“I feel so fortunate to have been able to participate in a healing circle at Pathways for Change.
I feel empowered and I have so many more emotional “tools” in my toolbox. Thank you, Pathways for Change!”
Healing Circle support groups offer space & time where Survivors can:
- Give and receive emotional and practical support
- Share information and resources
- Come together in a safe space
- Share their stories
- Give voice to their experiences and healing journey
Participating in a Healing Circle can help you cope better and feel less isolated as you make these connections with others facing similar challenges.
The size of the Healing Circle is typically 4-12 people, with two Pathways Support Counselor facilitators. Most adult Healing Circles will meet for 10-12 weeks and be one and a half hours in length. Most teen Healing Circles will be 8-10 weeks and meet for two hours.
In order to ensure a safe emotional space for all, the Healing Circle i:
- Non- judgemental
- Non-confrontational
- Open, inclusive and affirming
That is, the Healing Circle is a place where Survivors can be absolutely secure in knowing that they will not be judged, challenged, argued with, made to explain, made to justify, be ridiculed, questioned, laughed at or in any way made to feel less than worthy of support. To maintain this space it is important for all to speak from one’s own feelings and experiences.
